Cypress Texas is an unincorporated area located along Hwy. 290, about 20 miles northwest of Houston that is situated mainly in Northwest Harris County. The area was settled by German immigrants in the 1840′s. In the 1980′s many of the original settlers families were remembered through streets and schools that bore their names, like Huffmeister Road and Matzke elementary.Rice and dairy farming were the areas main occupations until suburbanization started occurring in the 1950′. Residential population showed a moderate growth until the boom years of the past few decades.

Cyress Texas Homes for Sale
New housing and business development is rapidly changing this formerly rural area into a relatively affluent suburban area . Cypress Tx Real estate is booming with new custom homes, new builder homes, and resale homes available. Home Prices range from $80,000 to over $1,000,000. There are still pockets of areas that have homes on land or acreage but they are getting harder to find. If you are looking for an area with trees you would probably want to look to the area north of 290. If you prefer grassy prairie then the area to the south of 290 is for you. There are quite a few Master Planned communities. Some of these are Longwood, Coles Crossing, Rock Creek, Lakewood, Lakewood Oaks Estates, Blackhorse Ranch, Bridgeland, Cypress Creek Lakes, Fairfield, and Northlake Forest.
