Shopping in Northwest Houston
Both the Greenspoint Regional Mall and the Willowbrook Regional Mall are located within the area served by the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce, providing extensive shopping opportunities at major department stores. The Willowbrook Mall contains 1.5 million square feet of space. The mall's large department store anchors include Dillard's, Foley's, J.C. Penney, Lord "&" Taylor and Sears. The retail center is completed by 146 smaller stores.

Retail shopping centers and stores are conveniently located throughout the area in neighborhoods and along the major retail thoroughfares such as FM 1960. For example, there are 40 shopping centers and free-standing stores of 100,000 square feet or larger. An AMC theater complex offers movies on 24 screens to the Willowbrook area.

Sam Houston Race Park
Sam Houston Race Park is located near the southern portion of the area. The Class I thoroughbred and quarterhorse track draws thousands of people from throughout southeast Texas to its spring, summer and fall meets.

Performing Arts
The Performing Arts Council of North Houston sponsors local and touring theater productions. Also, Playhouse 1960 and Theatre Lenz performs numerous full-feature plays. This non-profit group also operates a children's theater. To the north in The Woodlands, The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion for the Performing Arts hosts outdoor concerts throughout much of the year. The Centrum, a 900-seat performance hall and community center at Cypresswood Drive, is now open and is not only a performing arts theatre, but serves as a satellite for the Houston Museum of Fine Arts, under the direction of Cypress Creek Foundation of the Arts and Community Enrichment (FACE). Symphony North of Houston is a community based orchestra composed of a very special group of classical musicians, which include teachers, homemakers, engineers, lawyers, bankers, and many other professionals that enjoy playing classical music. In addition to performing six subscription concerts at Northwoods Presbyterian Church in Houston, Texas, Symphony North has consistently supported the young artists of Houston by sponsoring a yearly Young Artist Competition.

Northwest Houston Golf "&" Tennis-
Golfing and tennis are popular local sporting activities with several fine private country club courses located within the area such as Champions, Raveneaux, Willow Creek and Northgate. Public courses exist at Augusta Pines, Bear Creek, Gleannloch Farms, High Meadow Ranch, Longwood, Cypresswood, WindRose, and Houston Oaks. The Treeline public course is found to the north near State Highway 249. In addition to these courses found within the 1960 area, the five-course Woodlands complex is located a short drive to the north.

Many tennis courts have been built in the area's subdivisions and parks.
