The Woodlands is located along I-45, about 25 miles north of Houston in Montgomery count.  Founded by George Mitchell in 1974; it is one of the original master planned communities in the nation. The Woodlands blends nature with today’s modern conveniences. As you drive around the community it looks like you are in a forest but behind the beautiful foliage are businesses, stores and homes. This creates a lifestyle unequalled almost anywhere in America. The area has acres of towering pines, oaks, dogwoods and other assorted vegetation.

The land where The Woodlands is located was owned by the Grogans-Cochran Lumber Mill. Two communites are named after this mill; The Village of Grogans Mill and The Village of Cochrans Crossing.

As the area grew many corporations decided to call The Woodlands home. To name a few you can find Chevron Phillips, Hewitt Associates, Lexicon Pharmaceuticals, Maersk Sealand and Woodforest National Bank.

The community has a real Hometown Spirit.
With 8 Villages to choose from there is something for everyone. Each village includes access to parks, walking trails, playgrounds, schools, shopping and churches. Community service is a big part of The Woodlands. There are many events that take place throughout the year inlcuding a 4th of July celebration, New Years celebration, Art shows etc.

The Villages of Creekside Park located in Northwest Harris county is the Woodlands newest village. The grand opening was in October of 2007. The village covers 3,492 acres and the Woodlands has plans for building 7,100 residences. These will be a mixture of single family homes, age qualified homes (age 55 and over), multi-family residences and custom and estate homes in the gated community of Carlton Woods Creekside. 1,850 acres have been set aside for parklands and greenspaces. A 20 acre park name Rob Flemings opened in October 2007. It includes a naturally landscaped lake, tree lined streets, craftsman style lodge, bluebonnet meadow and a buterfly garden.
